Shirley Carte and Michelle Penn were nominated for their work in environmental services at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital.
It is rewarding when a patient shares a positive experience with their family, friends and followers on Facebook.
A recent patient in the labor and delivery unit shared a kind message about Carte and Penn. The patient felt blessed because the two housekeepers made her journey at the hospital a pleasant and caring experience.
The patient was admitted to the hospital at 28 weeks of her pregnancy. Not being at home with loved ones during her pregnancy was hard as she became a long-term patient.
Carte and Penn ensured the patient felt like she was surrounded by family when her own family couldn’t be here. They bought her hot chocolate and sweets from the Outtakes Café. They also sat with the patient to make her time in the hospital more personable and enjoyable.
Thank you to Carte and Penn for taking the time to make a difference for our patients.
Since the nomination, Penn has transitioned to a nursing assistant position.
