Flag raising ceremonies were held in April to highlight the importance of registering as an organ, tissue and cornea donor.
According to the Center for Organ Recovery Education, more than 100,000 people in America are waiting for an organ transplant, including nearly 500 people in West Virginia. At least 17 will die each day without receiving the transplant they so desperately need. Someone is added to the transplant waiting list every 10 minutes.
